300 properties visited by our Conservation@Home teamAs of December, our Conservation@Home team has visited over 300 properties around the county, helping people use nature-friendly lawn and garden practices. Over 170 properties have been certified, and people are eager for advice and ready to take action. In fact, we've already had our first school and first business certified. Dokum Mskoda Sedge Meadow Nature Preserve in WaukeganConserve Lake County played an important role in the recent dedication of a new Illinois Nature Preserve on the west side of Waukegan. We have been working with the Fields of Cambridge Condominium Association and other partners for over a year to give this important natural area the highest level of protection through nature preserve dedication. The 93-acre parcel is a rare site with at least 98 native plant species that provide a glimpse of what Lake County must have looked like before settlement. Conserve Lake County purchased an important parcel of land that made the dedication of the nature preserve possible.
